Gov. Walz Extends Stay at Home Executive Order
By Tom Marshall
On April 8, 2020, Gov. Walz, through Executive Order 20-33 (here: https://mn.gov/governor/assets/EO%2020-33%20Final_tcm1055-427292.pdf ), extended his prior stay at home Order issued on March 25. (Here: https://www.leg.state.mn.us/archive/execorders/20-20.pdf ). The previous Order was to expire on April 10. The extended period continues the prior Order through May 3, at 11:59 p.m. Again, the Order requires Minnesotans to stay at home as well as directing places of public accommodation such as bars and restaurants to remain closed. Travel is permitted for certain essential activities, such as purchasing groceries or gasoline, caring for others, certain recreational activities, etc. All workers who can work from home must do so. As before, only workers in certain “critical areas” are permitted to travel. Gov. Walz stated that this time will be used to focus on “response, recovery and resources” and other measures to push the COVID-19 peak in Minnesota to July.
