J. Dennis O’Brien
Over his career, Dennis has advised and represented employers in a broad range of employment law matters and has negotiated private and public sector collective bargaining agreements. He has tried grievances and unfair labor practice cases, and has argued cases in the Minnesota Court of Appeals, Minnesota Supreme Court, and the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals. He also has extensive experience in employment litigation including Title VII and the Minnesota Human Rights Act. He has vast knowledge of employee discipline and discharge, school funding and finance, administration procedures and State and Federal court litigation.
In addition, Dennis has served as a Minnesota State Public Utility Commissioner and the as the chair of the Public Advisory Committee of the Gas Research Institute. That experience, combined with his service in the Executive Branch of state government and his legislative work, gives him a broad and deep knowledge of both education and energy policy. Dennis was a registered lobbyist for 14 years at the Minnesota State Legislature, principally working in the area of school finance.
